Brett Emerton - Former Socceroo

Brett Emerton is a retired professional footballer with a career that spanned almost 18 years.

34-year-old Emerton represented Australia in two World Cup campaigns, as well as enjoying stints at Blackburn Rovers and Feyenoord, before making his move to the A-League's Sydney FC.

Emerton's career started in the National Soccer League with Sydney Olympic in 1996, before making his move to the Netherlands with Erevidisie side Feyernoord.

Brett Emerton is the third most capped player for Australia. He made 247 appearances for the Blackburn Rovers, before joining Sydney FC in 2011 and retiring in early 2014 due to injury.

Don’t let this former Socceroo’s early retirement fool you, Brett will be driving fast and aiming to win.

What do you enjoy most about your career?

The thing I enjoy most about my career is being able to do something I enjoy for a living.

What are you up to now and what is coming up for you?

I recently retired from professional football. Currently I am working with the next generation of football players and doing personal training.

What does racing in the Mazda3 Celebrity Challenge mean to you and what are you looking forward to most?

The Celebrity Challenge has always been something I have wanted to do. I am looking forward to finding out how good a driver I really am.

How do you think you’ll go in the Mazda3 Celebrity Challenge? What are you expectations?

I hope to do well. Top three would be nice!

Who is your favourite Formula One driver and why?

Mark Webber because he is Australian and seems like a top bloke.
