Tucked in halfway up Spain’s eastern seaboard, due west of the popular holiday island of Mallorca, Valencia is F1’s ‘other’ Mediterranean venue, a far cry from the opulent surroundings of Monaco. This will be the fifth running of the European Grand Prix at a venue that lacks obvious charm, despite its waterfront setting, but has not been short of incident and accident.
