The most experienced man on the grid and a three-time winner at Albert Park, Jenson will be hoping for a real change of fortune this year, his second with Honda providing the power in his McLaren car and his 17th as a Formula One driver.
The last six of those have been with McLaren where he has been the stablising influence in a period of flux and change as the former champions strive, with Honda, to revive their halcyon days. If they do, many hope to see this popular racer back for an 18th season.
At the age of 36, he is unquestionably the most senior driver and a much-respected ambassador for his sport who, given the right machinery, has proved he has not only the pace, but also the precision judgement, to win races and titles.
He did that in 2009 with Brawn GP and has reeled off memorable triumphs against the odds in treacherous conditions to confirm his special talents. Respected by all his rivals, Jenson managed to outscore his new McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso last season as the team struggled with an unreliable and uncompetitive package.
