Fans will be on the edge of their seat with the new Supercars qualifying format being introduced at the 2017 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
The new format puts all Supercars on-track in every session, increasing competition and adding an extra edge of suspense and excitement.
Four fast-paced 10 minute sessions will set the grid order for each of the four races and there will be a mere ten minutes between each session for crews to fine-tune the cars.
Refueling will also be done quickly in only 15 minutes between sessions two and three.
Supercars CEO, James Warburton said, “We’re excited with the introduction of the new format for Supercars qualifying this year.
“The drivers are looking forward to the increased competition with faster sessions and the teams are eager to face the extra pressure to perform in a slightly different environment.
“The format is going to make it more interesting for fans, and we can’t wait to see the results over the weekend.”
As Pit Lane gets even faster and more exciting, fans will have the opportunity to experience the ultimate thrill as teams perform under epic pressure.
There’s no doubt fans can expect a more varied grid and even greater competition for what will be an impressive weekend of world-class racing.
