Formula One has a fresh new face with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation today announcing Melbourne up-and-comer, Brittany Davis, as the ambassador for the 2016 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
Growing up in Parkdale, located in Melbourne’s south-east, the 24-year-old, whose interest in Formula One was developed at a young age watching the sport with her father, is delighted to be a part of the event in an official capacity.
“Dad and I would watch each race and we loved seeing the amazing locations of the circuits. There’s no place like home though, so it’s a huge honour to represent this prestigious international event and to show everyone just why Melbourne is the sporting capital of the world,” Davis said.
“I was fortunate enough to walk the track at the Monaco Grand Prix four years ago and last year I felt first-hand the adrenaline rush of Formula One in the two-seater car here at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit – what an incredible experience that was!”
Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Andrew Westacott, said Davis’ values of community, leadership and a strong work ethic made her the ideal candidate to be the ambassador for the 2016 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
“Brit is a fantastic contributor to the community playing an active role in promoting health and fitness, as well as providing ongoing support to various charities and working closely to aid children with disabilities,” Westacott said.
“On top of this, she is passionate about Formula One and very proud of Melbourne so we couldn’t be more pleased to have her as an ambassador.”
Davis’ formal responsibilities this year will see her act as an official spokesperson for the event, welcome international guests and celebrities to the city of Melbourne, and host the popular pre-event party, ‘Glamour on the Grid’.
Outside of her existing commitments with VicHealth, Variety, the CottonOn Foundation and the Bayside Special Developmental School, Davis also works for fashion label, Manning Cartell, and recently completed her Bachelor of Education.
Davis joins partner, Joel Selwood, as a representative of the 2016 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix following the Geelong Football Club captain’s unveiling as a joint AFL ambassador alongside his brother, Scott.
