50 days until the 2013 Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix

Today marks 50 days to go until day one of the 2013 Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix.

Event preparations are in full swing with an impressive support line-up confirmed and Nitro Circus Live locked in to headline the post-race entertainment.

Australian fast bowler and self-proclaimed F1 fan, Peter Siddle, visited “F1 World” at Queensbridge Square today and declared his excitement for the upcoming event.

“All eyes will no doubt be on Melbourne for the opening race of the 2013 Formula One season and I can’t wait for the Albert Park street circuit to come alive,” he said.

Australia’s own Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo will again take to the track as they each try to secure their first Grand Prix victory on home soil. It is the second year in a row and the second time in F1 history that two Australians will race at Albert Park.

“I am a big Webber fan and have been lucky enough to meet him a few times before. All of Australia would join me in saying, that they would love nothing more than to see Webber seal his maiden home Grand Prix victory,” Siddle added.

Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Andrew Westacott, is officially in countdown mode.

“The Australian Grand Prix Corporation team is working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the 2013 event is our biggest and best yet,” he said.

“This year we are also celebrating 60 years since the first Australian Grand Prix was held at Albert Park in 1953,” he continued.

“To celebrate this we have announced that Thursday 14 March will be named Heritage Day and free entry will be given to all General Admission patrons.”
