Bumper track schedule confirmed for 2012!

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation, in conjunction with Formula One Management, has finalised the on-track schedule for the 2012 Formula 1™ Australian Grand Prix.

Formula One will once again steal the show at Albert Park with two 90 minute free practice sessions on Friday, an hour free practice and an hour of qualifying on Saturday culminating in the Grand Prix at 5pm on Sunday.

In a first for the Australian Grand Prix, two Aussies will be pushing their limits on the Albert Park street circuit with Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo set to line up on the grid against a record six World Champions.

In addition to the thrills and spills of F1, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation has also announced the inclusion of four of Australia’s best motorsport support categories at the March event.

Event goers will be the real winners with categories including the V8 Supercars, Porsche Carrera Cup, Shannon’s Group A – C Touring Cars and Formula Ford.

Adding to this action-packed support category line up, spectators can also look forward to seeing the ever-popular Ultimate Speed Comparison, the classic Shannons’ Historic Demonstration and the Red Bull Race Off.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott is thrilled to confirm yet another amazing line up of events, both on and off the track, for the 2012 event.

“We look forward to welcoming back the V8 Supercars. The introduction of the new pit lane corporate facility, full pit stops and garages was a tremendous success in 2011,” he said.

“Motorsport fans can also look forward to a new support category in 2012, the Shannons’ Group A - Group C Touring Cars. In a first for Albert Park, these predecessors to V8 Supercars will thrill fans with an array of Commodores, Skylines, Falcons and Sierras from the early 1970s through to the 1990s.”

With less than 50 days until the 2012 Formula 1™ Australian Grand Prix, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation is committed to making this year’s event a complete entertainment experience that appeals to all passionate sports fans.
