Murdoch Childrens Research Institute has been named as the official charity of the 2011 Formula 1TM Qantas Australian Grand Prix.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation Acting Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Westacott, said he is delighted to announce the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute as the official charity for the 2011 event.

“Funds raised through this partnership will assist MCRI in continued research projects, we are very pleased to be able to provide this opportunity” he said.

Murdoch Childrens is the largest and most prestigious child health research organisation in Australia. Its team of 1,400 researchers is dedicated to discovering ways to help children live happier, healthier lives.

Research priorities include conditions ranging from diabetes, allergies, asthma, and premature birth to mental health and cancer; all of which are on the rise in children.

In the coming weeks, Murdoch Childrens and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation will announce the exciting initiatives they have planned to raise awareness and funds for children in need.
