At Community Day on Thursday 13 March motorsport fans will have the opportunity to give back to those in need by donating to The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal – the Official Charity of the 2014 Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix. Dedicated volunteers will be trackside rattling tins and selling 2014 commemorative lapel pins in a bid to raise money for the worthy cause.
General Admission to Community Day is FREE, giving the community the chance to soak up all of the excitement of this iconic event. This is a chance to celebrate the legacy of Australian talent in motorsport culminating in the appointment of Daniel Ricciardo, the young Western Australian, to Red Bull Racing.
Throughout the day, fans will have the rare opportunity to mingle with motorsport’s elite, with each of the drivers competing in the 2014 FIA Formula One World Championship ® season opener spending time at the V8 Village Autograph Stage before they hit the Albert Park Circuit for practice on Friday.
On track, there will be no shortage of adrenaline-pumping action with the V8 Supercars set to battle it out in their qualifying session, the Mazda3 Celebrity Challenge and Porsche Carrera Cup will take to the circuit for practice, and to top it all off, the superior power of an Formula 1® car will be tested against a road car and a V8 Supercar in the All Star Ultimate Speed Comparison.
Kicking off the first day of entertainment, skateboard legend Tony Hawk will bring his ‘Tony Hawk and Friends Vert Jam’ sessions to the Action Zone. While the music precinct, Sounds on the Circuit, will entertain the crowds with an all Australian music line-up – settle in for the day and enjoy the likes of Vaudeville Smash, Where’s Joss?, Ian Bank, My Lasting Reply, as well as Lurch and Chief.
The Driving Learning Education Program will also be in full swing on Community Day with registered students able to learn about the cutting-edge technology that governs the sport of Formula 1®. For more information about the Driving Learning program click here.
