Day 3 of the 2012 Formula 1™ Qantas Australian Grand Prix

More than 80,000 fans passed through the gates at Albert Park today as the sun shone over Day 3 of the 2012 Formula 1™ Qantas Australian Grand Prix.

The action on track heated up as the F1 cars had their final practice session and the first qualifying session of the 2012 season. Brit Lewis Hamilton from the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team qualified fastest in a thrilling end to qualifying and will have pole position for tomorrow’s race.

The V8 Supercars Challenge, Formula Ford and Porsche Carrera Cup races continued while the Red Bull Race Off revved up again for 2012 with more cars, more drivers and heaps more hustle.

Off the track, the Sidetracked Music Festival kicked off with Art vs Science, Grant Smillie and Bombs Away headlining the action, giving fans the chance to combine the epic thrill and spectacle of Formula 1 with the excitement and colour of a summer music festival. The daredevil Crusty Demons impressed fans with some death-defying tricks during qualifying for the inaugural Crusty Demons Cup and created much anticipation of what’s to come during tomorrow night’s grand finale.

Only one more day until the main race day and loads more action!
