F1 two-seater ride auctioned to support the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal for Flooding in Queensland

31 MAR - 03 APR 2016

The 2011 Formula 1™ Qantas Australian Grand Prix is auctioning off the once-in-a-lifetime experience to ride in a two-seater F1 race car to raise funds to support Queensland flood victims.

The eBay-based auction begins on Monday 17 January and ends on Friday 28 January 2011.

The winning bidder will experience the speed and g-forces of an F1 race car while strapped in the rear seat for a hot lap around the spectacular Albert Park street circuit during this year’s event.

“To experience the power of a two-seater F1 hitting speeds of 300 kilometres per hour is normally a money-can’t-buy opportunity, so by auctioning this amazing experience we hope to raise a significant amount to support Queenslanders”, said Andrew Westacott, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.

Former Australian F1 World Champion and Queensland resident Alan Jones agreed, “This is a fantastic initiative and hopefully motorsport fans show their support in contributing to such a crucial cause”.

The two-seater is powered by a 700bhp-plus V10 racing engine and features a similar chassis construction, suspension, brakes and tyres as the cars competing in this year’s championship.

The auction has now ended.
