Formula 1 fever races into Bendigo

31 MAR - 03 APR 2016

It may be less than a week until all the action of the 2012 Formula 1™ Qantas Australian Grand Prix explodes into Albert Park, but yesterday the thrill and adrenalin of F1 was making noise some 200km away in Bendigo.

The Swisse Two-Seater F1 cars zoomed into one of regional Victoria’s largest cities, putting on a spectacular show for the thousands of locals who turned out to see the cars drive through their streets, preluding the Bendigo International Madison Criterium.

Driven by V8 Supercar driver Cameron McConville and former Minardi F1 Team owner Paul Stoddart, Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr Alec Sandner was one of the lucky recipients to experience the thrill and adrenalin first hand from within the Swisse Two-Seater cars.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott was thrilled to share the excitement and experience of F1 with Bendigo and its residents, less than a week away from the commencement of qualifying at Albert Park.

“Regional Victoria has been great supporter of our event in Melbourne and this is a way for us to give back to the fans and showcase a piece of what they can expect next week at the 2012 Australian Formula 1™ Grand Prix,” he said.
