Formula 1® fever races into Shepparton

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation in conjunction with Greater Shepparton City Council today announced that the thrill and excitement of Formula 1® will race into Shepparton, on Saturday March 9 with the Swisse F1 Two-Seater car set to provide spectators with an up close and personal view of the F1 action.

The Swisse F1 Two-Seater car will be driven by V8 Supercar driver Cam McConville, putting on a spectacular show for locals along High St, before further displays and activities at the Shepparton Showgrounds.

General Manager of Motorsport and Entertainment at the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Craig Fletcher, said he was delighted to bring all the adrenalin of Formula 1® to Shepparton.

“Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley area have always been great supporters of our event, so we are delighted to be able to bring Formula 1® to the region and put on an exhilarating show,” he said.

“The support of regional Victoria is very important to the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix, so this is our way of saying thank you.”

Mayor of Greater Shepparton, Cr Jenny Houlihan, who will be one of the first passengers to experience Formula 1® from within the car, said the display is a great result for the community.

“This event builds on Greater Shepparton as a motoring destination, with events such as Spring Nats and Show and Shine as well as the popularity of the Motor Museum and car clubs in the region,” Cr Houlihan said.

“I encourage residents to come down and check out the Formula 1® car as well as the other activities which will be happening as part of this festival.”
