Formula One heats up Royal Children’s Hospital

31 MAR - 03 APR 2016

To celebrate the Good Friday Appeal’s appointment as official charity for the 2014 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation took a carnival of Formula One to the Royal Children’s Hospital ensuring that the kids who aren't well enough to get to Albert Park don’t miss out on the action.

The community will have the opportunity to give back on Thursday 13 March, at Community Day, where General Admission will be FREE. Patrons will be encouraged to make a gold coin donation to The Royal Children’s Hospital - Good Friday Appeal at the gates.

The event, which took place on Thursday 6 March, saw the foyer of The Royal Children’s Hospital transformed into a precinct of fun for the whole family, with various Grand Prix themed activities keeping mini-motorsport fans amused in between medical appointments. Kids and parents participated in face painting, car simulators and posed for photos with a Ferrari Formula One car as proud members of both the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and Good Friday Appeal team looked on.

Also on hand to help our city’s youngest patients enjoy the morning was ambassador for the 2014 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix, Georgia Geminder, and Mazda3 Celebrity Challenge drivers, Scherri-Lee Biggs and Nathan Brown.

During the 2014 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix motorsport fans will be able to donate to the Good Friday Appeal at a variety of fundraising activities.
