Murphy announced as Motorsport Ambassador

Four time Bathurst1000 winner Greg Murphy will be adding to his impressive motorsport résumé with his appointment as the official Motorsport Ambassador for the 2012 Formula 1™ Australian Grand Prix, announced today.

Immersed in the world of motorsport since the age of eight, Murphy will provide a credible and respected voice across the event as he interacts with event-goers and takes part in a host of exciting activities in his ambassadorial role.

His appointment as Motorsport Ambassador will see him complete a series of public and media appearances in the lead up to and during the race weekend, in addition to his all important V8 racing duties.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott is delighted to welcome Murphy to the team as an official ambassador for the 2012 Formula 1™ Australian Grand Prix.

“When it comes to people that live and breathe motorsport, you can’t go past Greg Murphy. His record on the track is impressive and his character out of the car makes him endearing to all,” he said.

“We are thrilled to have Greg on board and believe he will be an excellent asset to our event.”

Across his celebrated career Murphy has participated in 184 V8 races, with an impressive record of 38 podium finishes and 28 victories.

“The Australian Grand Prix is always a fantastic event for the fans and an exciting part of the V8 season,” Murphy said today.

“I look forward to getting involved with the fans and the off-track entertainment as well as the media and the team at the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.”
