Michael Patrizi will be back in action in tomorrow’s second Porsche Carrera Cup race despite crashing out of this morning’s first race.
Patrizi was fighting for third place when he lost control of his 997 Cup Car on the exit of Turn 12, spinning into the wall at high speed.
While the car looked completely ruined, further inspection by McElrea Racing – the team that Patrizi races for – has revealed that it is fixable for tomorrow’s race.
“Yeah, we’ll fix the car for race two,” said team boss Andy McElrea.
“I mean, it is heavy damage – don’t get me wrong. There is chassis damage at the front and the back, but it’s nothing that we can’t get sorted by tomorrow.
“We’ll be able to bolt all the suspension bits back into place and corner-weight it as it was today. There shouldn’t be any issues.”
There are two Carrera Cup races remaining – one tomorrow at 3:15pm, and a final on Sunday at 12:35pm.
