31 MAR - 03 APR 2016

Technical director of Sauber James Key has commended rookie driver Sergio Perez on his progression in the last few months of practise.

Perez who who crashed his C30 on the second pre-season test in Jerez has improved dramatically, even setting the fastest pace in final testing in Barcelona.

Sergio has developed well over the past four tests," Key said. "Looking at where he started at the Valencia test in early February and where we are now after only six weeks, he has made enormous progress."

Perez makes his Formula One debut this year with Sauber meaning there is added pressure and responsibility on his more experienced team mate Kamui Kobayashis.

"He is dealing with it very well and very professionally." Key said, addind that "He is playing a very proactive role in helping with how the car is developing and giving a very good drivers perspective of where we are."
