Chelsea Scanlan was unveiled this morning as the Ambassador of the 2013 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
The stunning Melbourne-raised model burst onto the scene at the tender age of 17, quickly becoming one the nation’s top models – a position she has retained with ease thanks to her striking good looks, infallible work ethic and infectious personality.
Daughter of Phil Scanlan, the Australian Consul General in New York, and Julie Scanlan, one of the first female anchors for CNBC in New York, Chelsea is no stranger to the spotlight and can’t wait to sink her teeth into the ambassadorial role.
“It’s an absolute thrill to be chosen, it’s something I was instantly drawn to as it combines two things I’m very passionate about - Melbourne and major events,” Scanlan said.
“Being able to represent my home town on a global stage gives me the unique opportunity to show the rest of the world why Melbourne is the world’s most liveable city.”
Life has officially hit the fast lane for Scanlan, following her first-hand introduction to Formula 1® with an electrifying ride in the F1 Swisse Two-Seater on ice this morning.
Scanlan will also host the exclusive GP@23 Party at Crown’s Club23 on Wednesday 13 March, and will welcome drivers, international celebrities and guests visiting Melbourne for the 2013 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
To date Scanlan has worked with many leading international designers including Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney. She has shot editorials for renowned fashion publications including Madison and Italian Grazia, as well as being one of the first Melbourne models to have an exclusive contract with Vogue.
Scanlan is blessed with far more than just good looks – since graduating from Lauriston Girls School in Armadale she has commenced a Bachelor of Professional Communications at RMIT University, and has also earned herself a role in the feature film ‘Charlotte’s Web’ alongside Julia Roberts and Dakota Fanning.
