Birds of Tokyo

2010 ARIA Award winners Birds of Tokyo (Best Rock Album) will headline the newly amped up Sidetracked music festival on Saturday night, playing tracks from their coveted self-titled platinum No. 1 album, including massive crowd favourites Plans and Wild At Heart. After six ARIA Award nominations, plus a newly crowned title of ‘Band of the Year’ from the GQ Awards in 2010, Birds of Tokyo’s live show, which received rave reviews on the 2011 Big Day Out tour, is set to shake up the GP crowd in March. “We’re thrilled to be playing at Sidetracked this year, it’s the first time we’ve played during the GP festivities so we’re really excited to have fun with the fans & check out all the awesome F1 action,” says lead vocalist Ian Kenny.

Children Collide

Bursting out of Melbourne’s thriving live music scene back in 2005, Children Collide is a prodigious alternative rock band that are well on their way to becoming one our nation’s greatest. Featuring the well-honed skills of drummer Ryan Caesar, bass guitarist Heath Crawley, and vocalist/guitarist John Mackay, this talented trio commenced their rise to prominence with a stunning debut album (‘The Long Now’) that hit the nation’s Top 100 back in 2008 and spawned hits like “Social Currency” and “Farewell Rocketship” – the latter of which slid comfortably into that year’s coveted Triple J Hot 100 countdown. With their 2010 follow-up album ‘Theory Of Everything’ recently peaking at #5 on local charts and paving the way for chart-happy national radio and TV hits like “My Eagle” and “Jellylegs”, Children Collide are set to make an even bigger impact in 2011 and well beyond.

Sunday March 27

Little Red

Featuring the melodic talents of Melbourne lads Adrian Beltrame (guitar/vocals), Dominic Byrne (guitar/vocals), Quang Dinh (bass/vocals), Tom Hartney (vocals/keyboards/ harmonica) and Taka Honda (drums), Little Red have been wowing audiences with their sublime harmonies and sweet summertime vibes since proudly announcing their arrival on the local music scene back in 2005. Taking out the coveted ‘V Garage’ band comp in 2008 set tongues wagging and gave rise to major festival sets at the likes of the Big Day Out, Falls Festival, Laneway Festival and Meredith Music Festival shortly thereafter. Responsible for a string of chart-friendly tunes that have wafted over national Aussie airwaves (including the likes of ‘Waiting’, ‘Witch Doctor’, ‘Rock It’, ‘Slow Motion’ and ‘Coca cola’) and into the hearts and minds of fans far and wide, this gifted quintet of vocal maestros have released two albums (2008’s “Listen To The Red” and 2010’s “Midnight Remember”) and are gearing up to paint 2011 red all over again. Little Red’s ‘Rock It’ landed at No 2 on the converted Triple J Hottest 100 count down 2011. Catch Little Red at Sidetracked before they get even bigger.

Yacht Club DJs

With their penchant for partying and their perennial punk attitude, the Yacht Club DJs have been sailing around Australia’s late night Indie vibe scene for several party-packed, mash-up-happy years now. Comprising the exquisitely mixed-up musical talents of good mates Gareth Harrison and Guy Chappell-Lawrence, this pair of seafaring, wayfarer-wearing disc jockeys have dropped anchor at some of the nation’s biggest festivals (including Meredith, Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival) as well as completing two sell out tours last year. Renowned for their high-energy show, well left of centre on-stage antics and outlandish get up, the Yacht Club DJs are navigating their way to serious success with one hand on the mixer, one on the decks and tongues firmly planted in their cheeks.

Sidetracked….come party in the fast lane!
