Stevenson sets the pace in practice for Lexus Celebrity Challenge

31 MAR - 03 APR 2016

Radio king Ross Stevenson has set the fastest time in practice for this weekend’s Lexus Celebrity Challenge at the 2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne’s Albert Park.

Stevenson, who anchors the top-rating morning shift on Melbourne radio station 3AW, was all class in the slick conditions, finishing at the top of the timesheets ahead of NFL punter Sav Rocca and former rugby league great Luke Ricketson.

Stevenson’s withering performance marks a dramatic increase in tempo for the lawyer turned radio presenter, whose last appearance in the Albert Park celebrity race saw him suffer the ignominy of circulating near the tail end of the pack.

But there’s still qualifying to get through tomorrow, which will be followed by race one at 12:45pm on Saturday.

There will be two winners in this weekend’s races – for the traditional first past the post, and another for the driver who uses the least amount of fuel in an ‘economy’ challenge.

The car being utilised is Lexus’s all-new CT200h hybrid sports hatch.
