Vettel relishing homecoming

31 MAR - 03 APR 2016

Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel is looking forward to celebrating his crown with his German fans this weekend.

Vettel won the 2010 Formula One drivers world championship in a dramatic final race in Abu Dhabi on November 14 and, after completing post-season testing and celebrations in Austria and England, the German is about to celebrate with his compatriots.

He is expected to drive a Red Bull car - the team he won the title with - down Berlin's 'Fan Mile' towards the iconic Brandenburg Gate on Saturday.

"I've always wanted to race through the streets of Berlin and on Saturday I'll actually get to do it," Vettel told his official website.

"We'll turn the area between the Brandenburg Gate and Yitzhak Rabin Street into a pit and put the pedal to the metal. This is just my way of saying thanks to all my German fans for their support and their dedication throughout the whole season."

Vettel explained what is ahead of him in what is expected to be a fun-filled weekend before he heads to Dusseldorf to take part in the Race of Champions.

"Not everyone is able to see a Formula One racing car in action, so I think this is a great opportunity for everyone who wants to experience it," he said.

"Besides the show run there will also be a drivers' parade, a stunt ride and the Red Bull Tourbus, so there should be something for everyone."
