Mark Webber has announced a contract extension deal with Red Bull Racing that will see him line up on the grid in Melbourne next March with the current Championship leaders.
"I've been with Red Bull Racing since 2007 and have achieved nine grand prix wins during that time," he said yesterday.
Webber claimed the ninth win of his career on Sunday when he swept into the lead with just five laps to go in an incident-filled British Grand Prix.
With his Monaco win also in the bag this year, Webber joins Alonso as a double winner in 2012 and is now just 13 points adrift of his rival in the title fight.
"I'm high on confidence at the moment and firing on all cylinders.
"I know the team well and I'm very comfortable here. We have grown together over the years and it feels like absolutely the right thing to stay with Red Bull for another season.”
Webber is, by some distance, the most experienced Formula 1 driver Australia has ever had – his 185-race career tally is already 59 more than the great Sir Jack Brabham, and 69 more than our other World Champion, Alan Jones.
With just eight months until the 2013 Formula 1™ Australian Grand Prix, Aussie fans should book now for their chance to see Webber line up on the Albert Park grid next March.
Fans who purchase a four-day grandstand or four-corner ticket to the 2013 event before the end of this month will automatically become a Gold GP Advantage member and have the chance to win one of five rides in the Swisse F1 2-Seater!
