Spielberg: Riches to rags for Red Bulls

The Red Bull Ring in Austria is one of the symbols of the brand’s recent successes in motor sport – but in F1 terms it’s likely to be the latest demonstration of how far the once-mighty Red Bull Renaults have fallen.

An intensely frustrated Daniel Ricciardo has recently spoken of “going round and round banging my head against a wall” and as we anticipate the Austrian race engine suppliers Renault are involved in crucial in-house tests – and even more crucial deliberations over their F1 future.

Canadian Grand Prix - Report

Two weeks after the fiasco of Monte Carlo, where a seemingly inevitable victory was snatched from his grasp, Lewis Hamilton responded on Sunday with another flawless triumph ahead of Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg in the Canadian Grand Prix.

Starting from pole for the 44th time in his career, the defending two-time world champion led a relatively straight-forward 70-laps race from lights to flag to win by 2.2 seconds. It was his fourth win of the season, his fourth at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and the 37th of his career.

2015 Canadian Grand Prix Preview

After the unexpected drama and, for Lewis Hamilton, acute disappointment on the streets of Monte Carlo, the Formula One circus has crossed the Atlantic to race on another unforgiving circuit in this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix.

Brakes and engines, above all, will be given a thorough testing as the teams attack the semi-street track, named after one of Ferrari’s legendary drivers, on the man-made Ile Notre Dame (island) in the St Lawrence River.

2015 Monaco Grand Prix - Race Report

Given his luck, Nico Rosberg must have been sorely tempted to head straight to the casino on Sunday night after he had made the most of one of Formula One’s greatest tactical blunders and completed a hat trick of consecutive Monaco Grand Prix victories.

Trailing his Mercedes team-mate and defending world champion Lewis Hamilton by more than 21 seconds with 15 laps remaining, the 29-year-old German took full advantage when an accident prompted a Safety Car intervention that, in turn, led his team to call in Hamilton for an unexpected pit-stop.

Nothing stops Hamilton staying as focus of attention

An unwelcome rain shower and the first red flag of the weekend during Thursday’s opening practice sessions failed to switch the focus away from the champions Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes in the build-up to Sunday’s classic Monaco Grand Prix.

Just 24 hours after the 30-year-old Briton and his team had confirmed he will remain a Mercedes driver for three more years, on a contract said to be worth more than 100 million dollars (American), he was back on top of the timing monitors with fastest laps in both the morning and afternoon sessions.

More questions than answers - for some

Lewis Hamilton was asking all the questions in Spain, but his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg was the man with all the answers as the 29-year-old German posted his first victory of 2015 to close the gap to Hamilton to 20 points in the race for the 2015 title.

Rosberg enjoyed a dominant weekend, taking an imperious pole position – also his first of 2015 and the 16th of his F1 career – and controlling the 66-lap race superbly after a brilliant get-away.

Melbourne to open 2016 F1 season in April

Melbourne will play host to the opening round of the 2016 FIA Formula One World Championship™ on Sunday 3 April, 2016 at Albert Park.

The 2016 Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix event dates are 31 March – 3 April, 2016, with the later start date set to condense the season, which finishes in November 2016.

Only once before has the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix been held in April, in 2006, when the event was moved to avoid a clash with the Commonwealth Games. In that year the race took place on 2 April as the third round of the season.
