‘COOL, VERY COOL’: TWO IN A ROW FOR DAN THE MAN

Australian Daniel Ricciardo won round 12 of the 2014 FIA Formula 1 World Championship in a Red Bull Renault over 44 laps of the magnificent Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

Ricciardo bracketed the mid-season break with wins in Hungary and now at Spa, a track where Red Bull drastically reduced the RB9’s downforce levels to give it some hope of matching the Mercedes pace – and it worked.

Mid-season Wrap: When Numbers Get Serious...

We live in digital days, and when it comes to digits, there is only one that counts in Formula One – and that, of course, is 1. Number 1 in a race, number 1 in the world…

But we can have fun with some other numbers as well, especially in a year when the drivers are free to pick their own, so let’s see how they all stack up as we wait for the second part of the 2014 World Championship season.

Napthine Government secures Grand Prix to 2020

Premier of Victoria Denis Napthine was joined today by Minister for Tourism and Major Events Louise Asher to announce that the Victorian Coalition Government has secured the Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne for another five years – 2016-2020.

The new contract was agreed in London last week after 12 months of negotiations.

The Formula 1® season is seen by hundreds of millions of viewers around the world with the Australian Grand Prix broadcast live, in prime time, to some of Victoria’s key trading partners such as China, India and Japan.
