Courtney named V8 Ambassador for 2015 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation today announced V8 Supercars driver James Courtney as the V8 Ambassador for the 2015 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.

Courtney, who is a former Formula One test driver for Jaguar, has raced against some of the sport's biggest names including Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Michael Schumacher.

The Holden Racing Team driver has enjoyed a steady rise in the sport since his 2005 debut, with Courtney's greatest achievement coming in 2010 when he was crowned V8 Supercars Champion in a tense finale in Sydney.

Ricciardo smashes Hamilton’s Top Gear lap record

Australian Formula One ace Daniel Ricciardo has enjoyed the prefect warm up for the new season, smashing Lewis Hamilton’s Top Gear lap record in the reasonably priced car.

Ricciardo is the latest F1 driver to be invited onto the top rating show to take part in the ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ challenge.

The 25 year-old dually beat Hamilton’s existing record by seven tenths of a second, setting a 1m42.1s lap. Fellow Australian Mark Webber is third on the leaderboard.

Grand Prix support categories announced

With just over a month until the 2015 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation today announced a bumper on-track support category line up, which will take to the Albert Park Circuit on 12 – 15 March.

While all eyes will undoubtedly be on Daniel Ricciardo and the opening round of the 2015 FIA Formula One World Championship™, the MSS Security V8 Supercars Challenge will lead the stellar line up of support categories.
