The Australian Grand Prix Corporation is pleased to present a brand new ambient interactive experience open to the public at Southern Cross Station in Melbourne from the 2 - 8 March.

Melbourne to host F1 season opener

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation today confirmed that Melbourne will host the first-round of the 2011 FIA Formula 1™ World Championship season from the 24-27 March.

After widespread speculation that political unrest in Bahrain may cause a cancellation of the first round race scheduled for 13 March, the island nation and Formula One Management have confirmed that Bahrain has officially withdrawn from hosting the opening round of the 2011 F1 season.

2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix - the countdown is on!

Get set to feel the excitement of the 2011 Formula 1™ Qantas Australian Grand Prix from 24-27 March.

The Formula 1™ Australian Grand Prix is one of the largest attended events in Australia attracting a four day estimated attendance of 305,000 in 2010. With Victoria on the world stage, the race alone will be watched in more than 180 countries and territories primarily on free-to-air broadcast.

Grandstand sales are currently tracking 35 per cent higher than this time last year with general admission not far behind.

Harts racing at the 2011 GP

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation is pleased to announce Ashley Hart as the ambassador of the 2011 Formula 1™ Qantas Australian Grand Prix.

The stunning Melbourne born and raised model is now based in New York but will be making a special trip home to take on the coveted Ambassador role with the Australian Grand Prix.

Hart will experience a taste of life in the fast lane with a ride in a 2-seater F1 car, hosting the super exclusive GP Party and welcoming international guests and celebrities.

Webber thanks fans with iconic Bolte drive

Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber is set to thrill Australian fans with a taste of his high-octane expertise by crossing Melbourne's iconic Bolte Bridge in a Red Bull Racing F1 car.

The spectacular 'Red Bull Run' will take place at 9.45am on Saturday 19 March as a prelude to the 2011 Formula 1™ Qantas Australian Grand Prix and opening round of the 2011 FIA Formula One World Championship season.

A great place for the first race!

When Melbourne first welcomed the Formula One World Championship in 1996, the catch-cry for the event was "What a great place for the race!" Sixteen years on, it's still a great place for the race – and the reigning World Champion himself agrees.

Sebastian Vettel was a boy of eight when the race was first run here, so he came late to the attractions of Albert Park. But it didn't take him long to figure out how good the circuit and the city are.

Qantas Announces Mark Webber as Qantas Ambassador

Qantas today announced a new Qantas Ambassador as part of its support of the 2011 Formula 1™ Qantas Australian Grand Prix.

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said Qantas was proud to support Australia’s Formula One driver and welcomed Mark to the Qantas team.

“Mark Webber is an Australian sporting champion and we look forward to working with and supporting Mark, not only in Australia but throughout his Grand Prix season globally,” said Mr Joyce.

Webber clears the air

Newly crowned Formula One world champion Sebastian Vettel said he and team-mate Mark Webber have buried the hatchet after a turbulent season.

Despite being on the same team, Vettel and Webber have been fierce rivals this season, so much so that their tense relationship threatened to disrupt Red Bull's title push.

But after Vettel claimed his maiden world championship at Abu Dhabi, at the expense of Webber and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, the 23-year-old German said he and his team-mate had cleared the air.
