Abu Dhabi, 2014: a youngster from Essex makes his F1 debut at the wheel of a car resurrected by a crowd-funding exercise. He finishes 17th and last, but that doesn’t matter to Will Stevens: he’s a Grand Prix driver now.

Stevens followed a familiar modern path to Abu Dhabi. He excelled in karting, with titles in Europe and the Asia Pacific series, before graduating to single-seater racing in Formula Renault 2.0 UK.

“It is a big responsibility but I feel ready to make this step in my career and to show that I can make an important contribution to developing a team.”

Dan gets ready to cross the 'Great Divide'

It measures only around 10 metres wide. But for Daniel Ricciardo it’s the dividing line between two worlds.

It’s the gateway to the Formula 1 paddock at Albert Park.

Once the drivers cross that great divide, they leave one world – the smiles, the selfies, the constant spotlight, the F1 dream – behind them and get down to business.

And in his other world, getting down to business is what Ricciardo – beaming smile, boyish sense of humour and all – is really all about.

Formula One arrives at Albert Park

The annual Formula One freight arrival at Albert Park took place today on the Pit Straight.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott was in attendance to welcome the arrival of the multi-million-dollar cargo consisting of 37 containers of shipping freight and six 747 jumbo jets with over 600 tonnes of air freight.

The 2015 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix Grid Girls also made their first public appearance.

The Melbourne Walk gives fans unprecedented access to Formula One drivers

New in 2015 the MELBOURNE WALK will provide General Admission patrons with the opportunity to get up close to their heroes as they arrive at the circuit. There will be autograph opportunities and interviews with GPTV.

The MELBOURNE WALK will operate at the following times:

Renault to take up the Albert Park Challenge

In an event first, Renault will partner with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation to set the first ever production car lap record of the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit. The ‘Albert Park Challenge driven by Renault’ will be held on Thursday 12 March and is a new addition to the 2015 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix schedule.

Never before has a commercially-available production vehicle under or up to two litre set a timed lap of the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, and there is no better vehicle to do this than the record-breaking Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R.
