Grosjean, Chilton Named In 2013 F1 Driver Line-up

Just two seats remain up for grabs on the 2013 Formula 1 grid following this week’s news on the driver front.

Romain Grosjean will keep his drive at Lotus while Max Chilton has been promoted from his reserve driver role to a full-time race seat with Marussia.

Caterham, who have signed Charles Pic from Marussia, and Force India are the only two teams yet to confirm their 2013 line-ups.

Reading Between The Lines

The final FIA World Motorsport Council meeting took place this week, and it has produced both calendar changes and amendments to the regulations for 2013.

First of all, the mid-year calendar has been reshuffled. The German Grand Prix, originally scheduled for July 14, has been brought forward a week to July 7. Another race has been added on July 21, although the venue is yet to be confirmed.

Australian Grand Prix Run 2013

Run the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix circuit on the eve of race week! The inaugural Australian Grand Prix Run will be staged on Sunday 10 March 2013. The fast and even the not so fast, can run or walk 10km or 5km, and experience the excitement with all the Grand Prix infrastructure in place - course barriers, grandstands, marquees, overpasses and more - you might even see some of the Formula 1® teams setting up.

Participants are encouraged to wear their favourite team colours.

Now we need to fill in the gap till they arrive back in Melbourne in mid-March, so let’s start with a look back at another super season.

Vettel scores 11th World Title for Renault Sport F1

Renault Sport F1 celebrates their third back-to-back Constructors’ World Title in the FIA Formula One World Championship™ after a dramatic Brazilian GP.

Renault-powered Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel had secured the points he needed in the USA to win his third Drivers’ World Title in as many F1 seasons, becoming the youngest-ever consecutive triple World Champion.

Renault has powered Sebastian to all three of his titles and all but one of his 26 career wins and 36 pole positions.

Celebrate Albert Park’s Motorsport Heritage For FREE

On 21 November 1953, the first Australian Grand Prix was held at Albert Park. To celebrate the heritage of motor racing in the park, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation announced that FREE entry will be given to all General Admission patrons on Thursday 14 March 2013. As a result, day one of the 2013 Formula 1™ Australian Grand Prix has been renamed ‘Heritage Day’ for the occasion.
