Fernando Alonso was airlifted to hospital following a heavy testing crash at the Circuit de Catalunya overnight, but escaped injury. Frenchman Romain Grosjean put Lotus fastest again on the final day.

His quickest time of 1m25.011s was just one tenth of a second faster than Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, who was on the medium compound, while Australian Daniel Ricciardo used soft rubber to finish the day in third position.
