AERIAL DISPLAYS

Always a crowd favourite, the Royal Australian Air Force Roulette aerial displays and F/A-18 fly-overs return in 2017. Flying in formation at speeds of up to 590km per hour in the skies above Albert Park, the spectacular precision flying and aerobatics of the RAAF Roulettes will again thrill race goers and the incredible low level aerobatics display from the F/A-18 Super Hornet which will provide a stunning build up to racing.

AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE FORCE

Located in the Industy & Innovation Precinct, the Australian Defence Force will have an array of interactive ground displays providing fans with an insight of the people and purpose behind the Armed Forces. Team Army are returning in 2017, again bringing the Project Digger and Armygeddon vehicles, giving patrons the exciting opportunity to try out some of the cool equipment.

The Australian Defence Force Band, the Rising Suns, will again be rocking the Golf Course every day of the Event. With their very own stage, the Rising Sun’s classic live rock show will provide the perfect sound track to a day on the Golf Course, click here for more info.

AUTOMOTIVE AVENUE

A number of ‘Automotive Avenues’ will be positioned around the circuit, displaying classic, new and custom designed vehicles, sourced through respective Victorian car clubs.

BABY CHANGE FACILITIES

There are baby change facilities located in most permanent toilet blocks within Albert Park. There are also temporary facilities, two Milk Shack Parent Pods will be located in F1 Central and the Golf Course, with a third parenting room (change table and arm chair) located in Legends Lane.

 

BARS

There are a variety of bar options around the circuit. Refer to the Circuit Map for locations, represented with a food & beverage symbol. All public bars will open 10:00am – 7:30pm on Friday and 10:30am – 8:00pm on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

 

BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR

A Behind the Scenes Tour will be conducted on Thursday 23, March for Gold GP Advantage member ticket holders ONLY. This tour will commence from Gate 1 at 8:00am (Gate 1 will be opened early to accommodate these patrons). Patrons will have access to Gate 1 merchandise area, before congregating under overpass 1 for track access to Pit Lane Walk.

GP Advantage patrons can access the Paddock Club viewing deck with their GP Advantage ticket and lanyard on Thursday ONLY.

GP Advantage Gold members can also attend the Thursday afternoon Pit Lane Walk and an additional Thursday evening Pit Lane Walk from 6:30pm.

GP Advantage Silver members can ONLY attend the Thursday evening Pit Lane Walk from 6:30pm.

BICYCLE PARKING/STORAGE

There are designated bicycle parking compounds located just outside Gates 3, 5 and 10, click here for locations. Patrons are not permitted to bring bicycles on site during the event. Bicycle parking is at owners risk and AGPC is not responsible for loss or damage.

 

BICYCLES ON SITE

Personnel with valid Accreditation will be permitted to enter the circuit with their bike. Patrons and guests are strictly prohibited from bringing bikes into the circuit.

CAMERA/RECORDING EQUIPMENT

A patron cannot make, create, store, record, transmit, broadcast, reproduce or use (or authorise such) any form of recording or image, and must not store, record, transmit, reproduce or use any data, of at or in relation to the Event (including of cars, drivers, teams, persons or activities present or situated within Albert Park) for any form of public advertisement, display, commercial gain or for any other purpose (except for the private enjoyment of the person making the recording, data or image) except with the prior written permission of AGPC and/or Formula One World Championship Limited.

It is forbidden to take into Albert Park any equipment that may enable a person to do the aforementioned acts. This would include audio recorders and digital video equipment. Camera lens – 400mm is the maximum length that a patron can bring into the event.

Filming and sound recording is strictly prohibited in the Paddock Club and Pit Lane.

CHAIRS

Any structure or item that may be used to erect a structure, or which is capable of supporting the weight of a person including, without limitation, any chairs, lounges, benches or stools (other than a canvas or similar material director’s folding chair or folding stool) are NOT permitted to be brought into the circuit.

State Government regulations – A person must not sell tobacco products from a point of sale that is in a retail outlet established in an area of premises for the duration of a specific sports, music or arts-related event.

 

CLOAKROOM / LOCKABLE STORAGE

There is NO cloak room or lockable storage facilities available to GA patrons. The Lounge near the Formula One Paddock Club has cloaking facilities and hospitality suites have lockable storage units for guests use.

 

CLUB 15

The popular Premium Zone at Turn 15 is back for 2017. There is a range of single day or multi-day package upgrade options available to General Admission ticket holders. Features include prime viewing of Turn 15, viewing access to superscreens, a 360 degree bar, enhanced catering options and comfy furniture.

 

COATES HIRE SUPERCARS

Teams and Drivers from Australia’s leading Motorsport Championship will be on-track on all four event days in the Coates Hire Supercars Challenge will be on-track again on all four event days. Some leading manufacturers will be represented with the traditional Holden versus Ford rivalry extended to Volvo, Mercedes Benz and Nissan.

There will be four races across the event.

  • TICKETING

Tickets for people with a disability are available at all Ticketmaster outlets. It is of paramount importance that all patrons at the event have their needs catered for. We must ensure that patrons with a disability are equally provided for. Patrons with a disability may have a carer or companion with them, and in most cases the carer or companion will have a companion or carer card.

Patrons with a disability have access to the infield (support paddocks, F1 Central, Entertainment Zone etc) via the internal accessible shuttle bus.

 

  • WHEELCHAIRS

There are wheelchairs available for loan from the Disability office at Gate 1 – no charges apply. Identification is required. For information please call Community Relations on 9258 7120.

 

  • TOILET FACILITIES

Toilets for patrons with a disability are generally located within close proximity of all general and grandstand toilet locations along with all accessible viewing areas. Refer to the Circuit Map for locations

 

  • GENERAL ADMISSION ACCESSIBLE VIEWING PLATFORMS

There are four dedicated elevated viewing platforms in the General Admission area, with accessible public conveniences for people with a disability. These platforms are located in the following areas:

Between Turns 2 & 3 (driver’s left) 

Turn 12 (driver’s left)

Turn 14 (driver’s left) 

One additional person may be permitted on a platform (if room is available) with the person with a disability, and carer ONLY. Chairs will be provided for the carer and additional person if required.

 

  • GRANDSTANDS

There are three grandstands with dedicated platforms with accessibility for wheelchairs via a ramp:

Jones Grandstand (Turn 1) 

Prost Grandstand (Turn 16) 

Schumacher Grandstand (Turns 15 & 16) 

 

Access to these grandstands is permitted only with a valid grandstand ticket.

Club 15 is located at Turn 15, is also accessible to patrons with a disability. This area is a GA premium area and a ticket upgrade must be purchased in order to gain access.

The GP Advantage Bar is also accessible to patrons with a disability, however they must be in possession of a GP Advantage membership. Access to this area is via the side gate.

 

  • HOSPITALITY FACILITIES

Accessible hospitality facilities are available in the Paddock Club and Pit Entry Suites.

When calling these numbers patrons should ask specifically for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, as the numbers are used for anything nonstandard (e.g. carrying more than four passengers); if the patron wants a van for capacity reasons, they’re more likely to charge at the van tariff.

 

  • PARKING

If parking is required at the circuit, a Village Green Disability car pass may be arranged through the Community Relations Office. A car pass will be supplied and the patron’s vehicle, or that of their carer’s, may park at the Village Green Disability car park along Village Green Drive near Gate 10.

 

  • COMPANION/CARER CARD

The Australian Grand Prix Corporation is affiliated with the Companion and Carer Card to ensure all patrons of the 2017 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix have full and equal access to the event.

When the holder of a Companion/Carer Card purchases a ticket to the event, a second ticket will be issued for their companion at a lesser charge (subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Companion Card).

DISNEY-PIXAR CARS JUNIOR GP CHALLENGE

The Disney-Pixar Cars Junior GP Challenge will take place on Melbourne Walk, on Saturday 25 March.

The Challenge will see 10 very lucky 4 to 8 year olds, who won the opportunity to race down the straight in Lightning McQueen electric ride on cars, professionally outfitted in helmets and race suits.

 

DRIVERS PARADE

The Formula One Drivers Parade will be held on Sunday 26 March.

DRIVING LEARNING EDUCATION PROGRAM

This program is designed to encourage learning in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. This year’s event will focus predominantly on the technology surrounding STEM and STEM future innovation as well as showcasing the career paths and opportunities available.

Students can attend the Event on either Thursday or Friday for FREE as part of the program. Student event access is granted through Gate 2 pedestrian and free parking is offered to all school buses at Gate 2.

The program includes the education exhibition, student seminars and workshops.

All Driving Learning activities are located in the Industry & Innovation Precinct in Legends Lane.

Earplugs are available for sale from all Merchandise Outlets on Circuit. Hospitality patrons have access to complimentary earplugs in their suite.

 

EDUCATION EXHIBITION

Exhibitors working on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) technology and innovation are located within the education exhibition, located in the Industry & Innovation Precinct which forms part of Legends Lane.

The Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit contains a number of entertainment zones – F1® Central, F1® Fan Zone, M-Lane and Heineken Village, Coates Hire Supercar Village and Legends Lane.

FIREWORKS AND FLARES

Fireworks and flares are illegal in Victoria and therefore are not permitted in the circuit.

Tickets are $90 per person and can be purchased from the Helipad or at the Helicopter Scenic Flights ticket booth at Gate 1. They do not take bookings, it’s a first come – first served arrangement. Operating times are 10:30am to 5:00pm for joy flights on each of the four days. Hospitality voucher holders can travel to and from the Helipad via the Hospitality Shuttle Bus.

INDUSTRY & INNOVATION PRECINCT

The Precinct will showcase leading technology and innovation from Victorian companies. Exhibitors will offer patrons firsthand knowledge of current innovation, new technologies and pathways into key automotive, defence, aviation, education, engineering and research sectors. The area is located within Legends Lane behind the Webber and Senna Grandstands. Access to all activities within the area is FREE to all patrons.

MAIN STRAIGHT WALK

Main Straight Walks on both Saturday and Sunday will commence at 9:30am and conclude at 10:30am sharp. Please note that the Saturday Main Straight Walk is available for both Gold and Silver GP Advantage members. The Sunday Main Straight Walk is for Gold GP Advantage members ONLY.

The Sunday walk will commence at 9:30am on Sunday, March 26 and conclude at 10:30am sharp.

  • Patrons must enter the circuit at Gate 1 from 9:00am.
  • Patrons must be in possession of a GP Advantage ticket.
  • Meeting point is at the southern end of Webber Grandstand.

 

MELBOURNE SPORTS & AQUATIC CENTRE (MSAC)

Access and car parking at MSAC during the Event period (March 21 to March 26), will be via the multi deck car park, with entry and exit from Albert Road. Entry to the car park is restricted to MSAC staff and members only. Pedestrian access into the facility will be via the Aquatic entry.

MELBOURNE WALK

All fans will have access to the drivers and teams as they take the walk to the Formula One Paddock each day. Fans can get autographs and selfies with the biggest names on the circuit as the drivers and teams take part in the Melbourne Walk.

MERCHANDISE

There are official Event merchandising locations around the Circuit, which will operate during gate opening and closing times.

Team merchandise outlets are located at Gate 1 entry, Golf Course and in F1® Central. EFTPOS is available at all facilities (no cash out service provided). Major credit cards accepted. Persons operating, selling or distributing merchandise from other areas must be reported immediately to Event Control.

 

M-LANE

Melbourne’s food and art scene has made its way to Albert Park. Located in the Action Zone, M-Lane is a social precinct combining the best local chefs, food trucks, live street art and music. An awesome meeting point, it’s free to hang here and mix it up between racing action and relaxation.

 

MSS SECURITY ULTIMATE SPEED COMPARISON

The MSS Security Ultimate Speed Comparison provides a real sense of a Formula One car's power, with the Australian Grand Prix Two Seater presented by Swisse taking on a Mercedes road car and a GT competition race car.

The national anthem will be performed immediately before the commencement of the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix race on Sunday 26 March.

The Official Program will be sold near all entrance gates in peak periods.

Official Programs cost $15.

Roving vendors will also sell the Official Program in all general admission areas. The Official Program is also available at Event & Formula One team merchandise outlets located around the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit.

 

OVERPASSES

There are eight overpasses located on site which allows pedestrians to cross over the track to the infield:

PADDOCK CLUB

Situated directly above the team garages, the Paddock Club is the most exclusive hospitality facility. The primary Paddock Club entrance (North) is only available to the following:

  • Paddock Club ticket holders
  • AGPC management accreditations
  • AGPC service accreditations with the letters “PC” printed at the bottom left of the accreditation pass.

The southern entrance is primarily used by hospitality patrons wishing to access Pit Lane Walk sessions and the Coates Hire Supercar Village area. The southern entrance should be utilised for accredited personnel that require access to the Paddock Club to carry out works.

 

  • DRINKING & FILMING REGULATIONS

Due to the proximity of the Formula One Paddock Club to the Pit Lane area, safety precautions require that drinks are not to be consumed along the window line, or from the rooftop viewing deck. Filming from the rooftop viewing deck is also prohibited.

 

  • SMOKING

Smoking is completely banned in the Paddock Club suites at all times for both private and shared clients. Smoking will, however, be permitted in a designated area of the The Lounge.

 

  • CLOAK ROOM SERVICE

A limited cloaking service is available in The Lounge. Please direct enquiries to the hosts in The Lounge. The AGPC shall NOT be liable for any items left uncollected.

 

  • LOCKABLE STORAGE

Each shared Paddock Club Suite provides a lockable storage unit for storage of client’s items. Keys to the unit will be held by the appointed host in all shared Paddock Club Suites and by Hospitality Hosts in private suites. The AGPC shall NOT be liable for any items left uncollected.

PARKING

There is no public parking within the circuit or surrounds. Patrons are encouraged to utilise public transport to access the event. Additional parking enforcement officers will be patrolling during the Event Period - illegally parked vehicles may be subject to tow-away and heavy fines.

Bicycle parking is at owners risk and AGPC is not responsible for loss or damage.

 

PASS-OUTS

Pass-outs are available for patrons wishing to leave the circuit and return on the same day. Patrons leaving the circuit will receive a stamp on their hand. For re-entry, patrons will be required to produce their original ticket or wristband, as well as the hand stamp, to gain access. The stamps are colour coded each day.

 

SHANNONS AUSTRALIAN GT

The Shannons Australian GT Championship comprises of exotic cars normally the domain of the rich and famous, the only difference is they are racing for position in their intended environment! Some exotic brands represented including McLaren, Ferrari, BMW, Lamborghini, Audi and Mercedes Benz.

The Shannons Australian GT Support Paddock is located in the Coates Hire Supercar Village.

 

PETE’S BAR

Iconic retail bar located in the Champions Gateway precinct. It is exclusively available to grandstand and hospitality patrons only.

  • FORMULA ONE PIT LANE WALK is for Paddock Club guests, The Lounge & holders of a Pit Lane Walk hard card (GP Advantage members can access on Thursday only) *Pit Entry Club suite, Premium Suite and Victory suite patrons cannot access Formula One Pit Lane Walks.
  • SUPERCAR PIT LANE WALKS are for Pit Entry guests, Paddock Club guests and holders of a Pit Lane Walk hard card (GP Advantage members can access on Thursday only). Pit Entry Club Suite and Premium Suite patrons may attend Supercar Pit Lane Walks.

 

Patrons must be at the assembly point at least 15 minutes prior to the departure time and ensure they are wearing the relevant Pit Lane Walk pass or wristband. Pit Lane Walk hard cards are NOT available for purchase. Pit Lane Walk passes are only available to Hospitality patrons.

 

Late arrivals or patrons without Pit Lane Walk hard cards will not be permitted to participate.

The Formula One Pit Lane Walk assembly point is at the southern end of the Paddock Club (Pit Building 6). The only exception to this is Thursday’s Behind the Scene Day, where GP Advantage patrons will enter through Pit Lane from the Northern end.

The Supercar Pit Lane Walk assembly point is at the southern end of the Supercar Pit Lane.

Please note that no food or drink along with video, motion picture camera or sound recorders shall be permitted on the Pit Lane Walks.

 

PIT STOP CHALLENGE

Located within F1 Central, the adrenaline filled and interactive activity will allow patrons to change the tyres of a replica F1 race car in the fastest time possible. A professional team will be on hand to run the activity and each entrant will be equipped with safety gear to execute the life-like pit stop challenge.

 

POLICE

There are two Police Stations/Lost and Found outlets on circuit:

  • F1 Central 
  • Golf Course/Kids Corner

Each Police Station will be operational from 10:30am to 8:00pm each day of the event.

 

  • LOST AND FOUND

Any found items should be taken immediately, or as soon as practical, to the nearest Lost and Found outlet and registered with the appointed Police Officer. Items not claimed after the event will be transferred to the South Melbourne Police Station, located at 211 Bank Street, South Melbourne.

In the event of a child being reported lost by a parent or guardian, they should be directed immediately to the nearest Police command post. Where necessary, a PA announcement will be made and all operational personnel notified via two-way radio with a description of the missing child.

 

  • ILLEGAL MERCHANDISE

Patrons are not permitted to sell or distribute any product unless authorised by AGPC. Official merchandise outlets are located within the circuit. Similarly, patrons are not permitted to distribute any promotional material or conduct surveys without AGPC permission.

PORSCHE CARRERA CUP

The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car is a lightweight, high performance, purebred race car. These cars will be competing for Championship points in four races at the Albert Park circuit. Refer to the Race Program for times. The Porsche Carrera Cup Championship Support Paddock is located infield, near Pete’s Bar.

 

PORSCHE DRIVING SCHOOL

Offering kids a head start learning road safety, participants will have the opportunity to drive Porsche pedal cars on a purpose-built track. Kids between the approximate height of 120cm and 150cm can register in the driving school which will consist of a theory lesson, driving session and all participants will receive their very first ‘driver’s licence’ at the completion of the 20 minute session. Located in the Golf Course precinct.

There is no vehicle parking close to the Circuit. Patrons are advised to park in the city, and take advantage of free tram shuttle services to the Circuit.

Most Metro Trains will run on the following schedule. Trains are available from Flinders Street and Spencer Street Stations.

SHANNONS HISTORIC DEMONSTRATION

Take a step back in time with the Shannons Historic Demonstration, celebrating Historic Motorsport with classic historic race cars from the 1950’s up to 1969. Up to 50 historic race cars of all shapes and sizes will be on display in the paddock when they are not demonstrating their speeds on Thursday, Friday and Saturday or being paraded around the circuit on Sunday. The Shannons Historic Paddock, located in the Legends Lane outfield behind the Fangio Grandstand and also includes the Shannons Big Rig.

Heroes of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields will deliver their individual success stories and talk about career progression and pathways to students. Sessions will be hosted across both Thursday and Friday and will run for approximately 60 minutes.

Seminars are hosted in the Industry & Innovation Precinct which forms part of Legends Lane.

Drinking water is available from permanent and temporary drinking fountains around Albert Park. Free drinking water is available from all bar outlets. Water can also be purchased from catering outlets in various locations around the site.

 

WET WEATHER

Umbrellas are not available at the circuit. Rain ponchos are available at most Official Merchandise Outlets, designated with a T-shirt symbol on the Circuit Map. Hospitality clients have access to complimentary disposable plastic ponchos in their suite.
