In 2001 a fresh-faced Kimi Räikkönen made his F1® debut in Melbourne in a Sauber. Despite of a lack of experience he qualified 13th and calmly drove to sixth in the race, after which he looked like he had simply driven around the block, that's how easy he he make it look.
Eighteen years later Räikkönen is back in a Sauber, and another sixth place would do him just fine. At 39, the Finn might have been expected to retire to his family and fortune, but the fire clearly still burns. His win in Texas last year was his first in five years, but it was his consistency (12 podium finishes) that took him to third in the Driver's Championship.
He has won in Melbourne twice, in a Ferrari and a Lotus, so you can expect plenty more fireworks to come from ‘The Iceman’.
Sauber may not be Ferrari, his team of the last five years, but Kimi believes that solid results are not far away.
