As soon as Max Verstappen arrived in F1® at just 17 years of age, all teams started looking for the next teenage star and McLaren might just have him.
At 19, Lando Norris is Formula 1®’s youngest driver and comes to the grid after a fierce battle with George Russell in Formula 2 last season.
Russell, who joins Williams this year, beat Norris for the Formula 2 crown but Norris showed great consistency and few were shocked when McLaren promoted him for this season.
Norris has already spent a full year as the team’s reserve and test driver. In seven Friday Practice appearances last year, he impressed the team with his speed and positive attitude.
The prospect of Norris and Russell, two British rookies, fighting it out in a McLaren versus Williams battle has energised British fans and there will be a lot of eyes on young Norris this season.
