Two Canadians will be on the grid in the 2020 FIA Formula One World Championship™, and it would be easy to write them both off as having bought their seats.
It is true that Nicholas Latifi’s family is well-heeled, but the 24-year-old from Quebec brings a shiny resume to Rokit Williams Racing. He has three years of racing in GP2 under his belt and another three in its successor, Formula 2. During his final season in 2019 he finished second in the series, with four race wins.
More than that, he has been a Formula 1® test driver since 2016, and has been highly rated by Renault, Force India/Racing Point and Williams in that role.
So Latifi looks to be exactly what Williams needs to move forward - a well-funded, experienced and up-and-coming driver.
