After racing five times in 2017 as a reserve driver, Pierre Gasly will look to hit the ground running as a full-time driver with Brendan Hartley for Toro Rosso in 2018.

Born in 1996, Gasly began karting in 2006 and has risen through the ranks of motorsport.

He was signed to the Red Bull junior driver program in 2013, before coming runner-up to Carlos Sainz in the Formula Renault 3.5 the following year.

In 2015, he was promoted to GP2 and received his first tests for both Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing as an F1® reserve driver.

While Gasly won four races and had nine podiums finishes to win the GP2 Championship in 2016, Red Bull did not have a spot on their roster for him in 2017, prompting a move to the Japanese Super Formula Championship.

After coming second in Japan, he completed the final four races for Toro Rosso in 2017.
