France has had some great F1® drivers and a new generation looks to be taking the country back to the top of the sport. But the French driver who has been there for nearly 10 years is not done yet.
Romain Grosjean has had more ups and downs than most in the sport and, at one stage, took about three steps backwards to get his career back on track. It worked; he has been back in the sport full-time since 2012 and while he has no wins, 10 podiums are a testament to how good he is.
For all that, the 32-year-old has some work to do. There were mistakes at important moments last year, and the rise of teammate Magnussen means that the team’s pecking order is far from settled.
Grosjean has the speed to provide the results and points the ambitious Haas team craves, and the battle between its drivers will be close and intense.
