The Australian Road Safety Foundation have partnered with Caltex and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation to hold the 6th Annual Australian Road Safety Awards on Wednesday 22nd March to coincide with the 2017 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
The 6th Annual Australian Road Safety Awards, formerly, the Australian Road Safety Awards are an initiative of the Australian Road Safety Foundation and aims to foster dialogue and collaboration between the suites of signature programs - Including Fatality Free Friday.
Over 75 Awards finalist will be acknowledged across 7 categories of excellence. The finalists have been selected for their resounding contributions in; community, indigenous, corporate, state government, school, innovation and local government initiatives.
The Australian Road Safety Luncheon will be held at The Carousel in Albert Park and hosted by Channel 7’s Mark Beretta with Formula One racing driver Fernando Alonso attending as guest speaker.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott says it is a great alignment to welcome Alonso as part of The 6th Annual Australian Road Safety Awards.
“The Australian Grand Prix Corporation recognises that road safety is paramount not only to the Formula One community, but to communities across Australia and we are proud to support the Australian Road Safety Awards to generate greater awareness and support for safety on our roads,” Mr Westacott said.
The Awards program also recognises individual action, leadership and professional development of leading road safety stakeholders and their efforts in reducing road trauma on a national agenda.
CEO of the Australian Road Safety Foundation Mr White says the Awards will encourage corporate organisations and government departments, widespread community engagement and individuals to establish new standards of excellence in the road safety discipline.
“The Awards program raises awareness about road safety generally and promotes strategies that will assist to address road safety issues across all sectors,” Mr White continued.
“They also provide a vehicle to further promote road safety activities on a national scale and unite these programs under a single banner.”
Caltex Executive General Manager Commercial Bruce Rosengarten says the Awards are a great initiative, celebrating the achievements of those whose work help embed the important message of road safety into Australian communities.
“Safety is at the core of everything we do at Caltex. We live in one of the largest countries in the world and, as the only Australian fuel supplier, we want to ensure safety is top of mind for motorists whenever and wherever they travel,” Mr Rosengarten said.
