AusGP 2019 recognised for its outstanding volunteers

The Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix has once again proven to be one of the most celebrated motorsport events in the country.

On Monday, the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 was awarded the Virgin Australia Best Volunteer Group at the Supercars Gala, highlighting the extraordinary effort of the event’s volunteer teams.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation General Manager for Motorsport, Entertainment and Industry, Craig Fletcher, says volunteers are the backbone of Melbourne’s Formula 1® season opener.

“Our incredible and talented volunteers play an integral role to help us deliver a world-class and memorable Formula 1® experience year after year,” he said.

A team of 970 officials volunteered at the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019, undertaking a variety of roles including marshal services, race control, boundary riders and many more.

“The Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix volunteers are recognised as world leaders in the sport. This award is a wonderful recognition of their talents and tireless dedication,” Fletcher said.

“It’s hard not to be inspired by their passion for motorsport."
