Friday at the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019

Friday’s action at the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 is highlighted by the return of Formula 1® cars to the track.

Many eyes will be trained on the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit for any early hints as to how Sunday’s main race will unfold.

But there are a host of other eye-catching events and entertainment options within the Albert Park precinct to keep fans entertained.

On track

How will Daniel Ricciardo’s Renault handle the Melbourne conditions? And who will be the early pacesetters in Melbourne?

Those questions – and so many more – will get initial answers in two Formula 1® free practice sessions on Friday.

The first will begin at 12:00pm, with the second to follow at 4:00pm as the respective teams look to build pace ahead of Saturday’s qualifying sessions.

The first race of the Beaurepaires Supercars Melbourne 400 will also attract a healthy crowd, with the 130 km event running from 5:55pm to 6:55pm.

Earlier, qualifying sessions three and four (for the Race 3 and Race 4 grid respectively) will take place in Supercars, while the first race of the Formula 4 Championship gets under way at 10:55am.

The second race of the BP Ultimate Australian GT also takes place in the morning, starting at 10:15am.

Meanwhile, the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia’s second race in Melbourne begins at 2:55pm.

There are also a range of demonstrations and shows for fans, with the Royal Australian Navy to present a helicopter handling display at 11:25am followed by an F/A-18 reconnaissance by the RAAF at 3:30pm.

Off track

Heineken® Stage is the place to be, with Kid Ink and  Sean Kingston headlining RNB Friday.

Kid Ink (7:00pm-7:30pm), MIMI (6:30pm-7:00pm), Sean Kingston (5.30pm-6pm), Rojdar (4.45pm-5.30pm) and DJ Horizon (4pm-4.45pm) will take to the popular stage, among others, on Friday.

The F1® Fan Zone will be thriving, too, with fans encouraged to be on Melbourne Walk from 9:00am-11:00am as Formula 1® drivers and teams make their way through en route to the Formula 1® Paddock.

Selfies and autograph opportunities will be available and that is only the start of a busy day at the F1® Fan Zone.

F1® team principals will conduct Q&A sessions from 11:00am-11:20am and 3:10pm-3:30pm, while an F1® Team Panel Q&A will run from 2:35pm-3:25pm.

And Supercars fans can head to the F1® Fan Zone for three autograph sessions, beginning at 11:45am, 12:00pm and 3:40pm respectively.

The music is not limited to the Heineken® Stage, with Sean Kingston (2:30pm) and Tay James (3:00pm) featuring at The Lounge.

James Leroy (9:50am) and Tanya George (2:30pm) will play at the GP Advantage Members Enclosure, and Andrew Lim (11:00am) and Luke Joseph (2:30pm) will entertain at Club 15.

Elsewhere, fans can get a haircut, visit a beauty bar or watch the Strange Fruit Stunt Show (10:00am-7:00pm) and the Wheel of Steel Stunt Show (12:10pm, 2:05pm, 3:40pm) at M-Lane.

You can drive a race car simulator in Legends Lane from 9:00am, while the All4FMX stunt show – also at Legends Lane – will run at 11:30am, 1:35pm, 3:00pm and 4:10pm.

Fans can also visit displays at the Innovation & Technology Hub, be wowed by Auto Avenue Car Club displays and see state-of-the-art new cars at the Premium Automotive Showcase.

Children will be entertained by activations from Jurassic World, Lego Racer Zone, Batman and the Batmobile and Melbourne City Football Club, all starting from 10:00am in the Kids’ Corner.

At F1® Central, a Global Barista Challenge runs from 10:00am-1:00pm and 3:00pm-6:00pm, while a BBQ and Smoked Meats Workshop is sure to have fans salivating from 1:15pm-2:30pm.
