Kenny Habul exacted a form of revenge on Fraser Ross by winning Race 2 of the BP Ultimate Australian GT event in Melbourne on Friday.
Habul did not finish Thursday’s Race 1 after being hit by Ross but the #75 Mercedes-AMG turned the tables to edge his rival less than 24 hours later.
Habul finished 0.973 seconds ahead of Ross, while the #8 WM Waste Management car of Max Twigg was well back in third.
Ross, who won Race 1, had to settle for second into the opening corner behind Habul, while Trigg sat third, and the trio would finish in exactly the same positions after 11 laps of the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit.
The race was not without incident, though, as Local Legends Beef Jerky’s Tony Quinn sailed wide with three laps to go at Turn 1.
Quinn lost control of his #7 Aston Martin on the wet grass, side-swiping Nick Kelly’s #99 Audi and sending him into a spin.
The #69 entry of Richard Gartner also ventured off track, running wide at the fast right-hander of Turn 12.
The Safe-T-Stop driver lost control of his Lamborghini, dipping the left side of his car into the gravel and spearing into the wall on the right-hand side.
Habul and Ross now have one win each to their names with two more races remaining in Melbourne this weekend.
Race 3 begins at 10:05am on Saturday.
