How to get to the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019

So you’ve got your tickets and excitement is building ahead of the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019. But how do you get there?

There are many easy ways to make your way to the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, and the best way to do so is by making use of the FREE* tram travel available to all event ticket holders.

Tram

The free trams – which depart from the city and arrive at the circuit – leave at regular intervals from Thursday 14 through to Sunday 17 March on several routes.

From Spencer Street (corner Collins Street), fans can take the Light Rail GP Express to get to Gates 1 and 2 or the Clarendon Street GP Express, which stops at Gate 3.

The St Kilda Road GP Shuttle is another option, leaving from Swanston Street (outside Federation Square) to Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10.

These free tram services will run at regular intervals, but please note that normal fares apply on other routes that go past the Albert Park precinct.

If you’re not travelling by tram, there are still many ways to get to the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019.

Bus

There are some bus stops in the vicinity of the circuit, with Route 606 stopping close to Gates 1, 2 and 3 and Routes 216, 219 and 220 stopping near Gates 5, 8 and 9. To check out the full array of bus route maps and timetables, please visit ptv.vic.gov.au.

Please note, walking would be required from those bus stops to the track.

Fans can also catch buses into the city and then take the free trams to the Albert Park precinct, or take the SkyBus directly from the Melbourne Airport to the circuit.

Car

It is important to note that there is no public parking at the circuit.

If driving, your best option is to park in the city and catch one of the free tram services.

Grand Prix patrons who do not live in Albert Park will not be permitted to park close to the precinct, with special permits required to enter certain areas.

Illegally parked vehicles will be subject to heavy fines and/or towaways.

Uber

You can get to the Albert Park Grand Prix circuit in a car if you travel in an Uber, who are the Rideshare Transport Supplier of the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019.

When leaving the Grand Prix, you can visit the UberZONE at Gate 1 on Canterbury Road to request a ride and while you wait, can charge your phone and get a bottle of water while an UberCONCIERGE connects you with your ride.

Uber access points are also available at Gates 2, 3, 5 and 10.

Rides requested at the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 will be subject to a $5 event pick-up fee.

Taxi

Taxi ranks are on site, too, at Gates 1 and 2 (on Canterbury Road), Gate 8 (on St Kilda Road) and Gate 10 (on Fitzroy Street).

Disability Services

People with a disability can access a free internal shuttle bus for the duration of the event.

The free public event will feature a live stage show and performances from popular local music acts, before the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 takes place on 14-17 March.
