Roger Lago and his Lamborghini R-EX scored a runaway win in the second Shannons Australian GT race at the 2017 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
Lago started from second on the grid, but was in the lead by turn one at Albert Park ahead of polesitter Max Twigg (Mercedes AMG GT-S) – and from that moment controlled proceedings in the 25-minute race.
While Lago was in complete control, the battle for the minor placings was willing, with Twigg in second place for the first half of the race before Fraser Ross (McLaren 650S GT3) and then Peter Major (R-EX) got past him.
Twigg was also coming under the attention of fifth-place finisher Liam Talbot (Porsche 911 GT3-R) at the end of the 10 laps, while James Koundouris (Audi R8 LMS) completed the top six.
Row two starters Tony Bates (AMG GT-S) and Geoff Emery (R8 LMS) both had off-track excursions, with the former failing to finish while Emery was 15th.
Race three for Australian GT will be held at 12:05pm on Saturday.
