State Funeral Service for Ronald J Walker AC CBE

Former Australian Grand Prix Corporation Chairman, Ronald J Walker AC CBE, will be farewelled with a State Funeral Service at St Paul's Cathedral on Wednesday 7 February.

Date: Wednesday 7 February 2018
Time: 2.00pm
Doors open: 12.30pm

Guests are asked to arrive and be seated by 1.45pm.

Service commences promptly at 2.00pm and is expected to run for 60 to 75 minutes.

Venue: St Paul's Cathedral, corner of Flinders and Swanston Streets, Melbourne

Registrations and seating: Mr Walker supported and worked closely with a significant number of people and organisations and as such, seating within St Paul’s Cathedral has been fully allocated. Family, family friends, business associates and organisations will be accommodated at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Public viewing: Members of the public are invited to attend the live broadcast in Federation Square or view the live stream.

Pedestrian access to Federation Square is via Swanston Street, or by train or tram to Flinders Street Station. No on-site parking will be available.

Accessible viewing areas will be available at Federation Square, in the Main Plaza.

Road closures: To facilitate the flow of pedestrians and traffic, the following roads will be closed between 11.30am and 4.00pm:

  • Flinders Street (between Exhibition and Queen Street)
  • St Kilda Road/Swanston Street (between the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) and Flinders Lane)
  • Elizabeth Street will be closed south of Flinders Lane
  • Current road closures on Flinders Lane between Russell Street and Swanston Street due to the Melbourne Metro Tunnel works will remain in place throughout the day

An accessibility drop-off area will be located in the Russell Street Extension, south of Flinders Street (just outside the Ian Potter Centre, Federation Square).

There is no parking in the immediate vicinity. Those attending the Service are recommended to arrive on foot or by public transport. We advise that you make appropriate arrangements with any guests or visitors you may be expecting in this time.

Public transport: Those attending the service or wishing to view the live broadcast at Federation Square are recommended to arrive on foot or by public transport to Flinders Street Station.

Taxis: Taxis will not service the Flinders Street Station taxi rank.
