Dale Wood cruised to a comfortable victory in Race 2 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Series event in Melbourne on Friday.
The #100 Sonic/Polyflor driver started the race from pole position after claiming Thursday’s race win and finished 1.785 seconds ahead of Sonic/Bob Jane T-Marts/SRG driver Jordan Love.
MEGA/No Second Chance driver Warren Luff wrapped up the podium places, finishing third.
Wood was joined on the front row of the grid by the #88 Porsche 911 of Dylan O’Keeffe and the pair made contact heading into Turn 1 during the first lap of the race.
The light contact was enough to cause minor damage on the #88 entry before his car deteriorated even further when he ran wide at Turn 5, causing the car to leak fluids onto the racing surface.
After an impressive day on Thursday, qualifying for Race 2 in second position, Michael Almond struggled, venturing off the track in the #77 Porsche on two occasions before finishing 12th.
Meanwhile, Nick McBride also endured a difficult race, falling from fifth to tenth in the second event of the weekend on the iconic Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit.
The third race of the weekend starts at 3:20pm on Saturday before Race 4 takes place on Sunday afternoon.
Limited tickets are still available for the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019. The event runs from 14-17 March at Melbourne’s iconic Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit.
