Making his debut as a regular driver in the 2018 Formula 1® season will be Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc.
After winning the GP3 Series championship in 2016, as well as the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2017, he will race for Sauber in 2018.
He began racing karts at the age of four. In 2014, he collected two wins and three podium places from only six races in his first season of Formula Renault 2.0 Euro series.
Leclerc, was promoted to the FIA F3 Euro in 2015 and finished in fourth place with four victories throughout the season. In 2016, he did testing with Ferrari completed four Free Practice 1 sessions with Haas.
In 2017, Leclerc won the F2 series polling first in seven races. He also did more testing with Ferrari and Free Practice sessions with the Sauber team.
He will race alongside Marcus Ericsson in 2018.
