With over 200 race starts to his name, Lance Stroll has been a fixture on the Formula 1 grid since making his debut as a teenager in 2017 at the Australian Grand Prix. The Canadian driver made history as one of the youngest podium finishers in F1 history when he stunned the field with a third-place finish in Azerbaijan that same year – famously sealed with a shoey on the podium with non-other than Daniel Ricciardo!
Born in Montreal, Canada, Lance Stroll’s rise to success came quickly early on. From karting at the age of 4, the Canadian worked his way up through the ranks in Canada before moving to Europe to compete on the global stage. After winning 14 of 20 races in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2016, Stroll had caught the eyes of those in Formula 1.
Now a long-term fixture on the F1 grid, Stroll is known as a wet weather master. He did exactly that when he became the youngest driver in history to line up on the front row in Monza of 2017 in a rain soaked qualifying and continues to build a reputation as a driver who often saves his best work for chaotic race days.
While Stroll races under the Canadian flag, Stroll's family ties stretch all the way to Australia thanks his brother-in-law, champion snowboarder Scotty James. Not a bad local guide for a Melbourne visit.
