Jack Doohan has had a strong weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix, with a sixth-place finish in the sprint and a second-place finish in the feature race.
In the feature race, Doohan started from pole position and was able to get away nicely on the first lap.
It wasn’t until the drivers came in for their pit stops that the strategies started to come into play. The Virtuosi Racing driver made an early stop, with eventual winner Felipe Drugovich having five laps less in his tyres.
It was lap 28 where Drugovich overtook Doohan and went on to win, with Frederik Vesti making up the final spot on the podium.
MotoGP™ legend and father of Jack, Mick Doohan, congratulated his son on his maiden podium after the race.
“He (Jack) would have hoped for this slightly earlier in the year, but he is up and running,” one commentator said.
Formula 2® continues next weekend in Monaco.
