Wood joined In the Fast Lane co-hosts Matt Clayton and Michael Lamonato to discuss the breaking news of her return to the W Series grid for this weekend's race in Hungary.

“I’m so super excited to announce I will be stepping into the Puma car for the Hungarian round and racing in the event alongside Formula 1®,” said Wood.

“It’s been a long time coming, obviously being a reserve driver, I’ve been able to watch all the action so now I’m very happy to be able to get in and contribute to it myself,” she continued.

Wood’s main aim of the race is to enjoy herself but hinted she can take more risks in the race than other drivers, as she isn’t in the race for this year’s championship.

“Ultimately, it’s one I need to enjoy myself - I think that’s very important … but at the same time I’m very competitive and always want more,” said Wood.

“The best way I’ve been thinking about it is, I’m not in the championship run here, so I can take more risks than anybody else. So, I’m here for a good performance for Hungary not here for a point to make prizes. Ultimately I can be a little more aggressive than most people.”

The podcast is available on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts platforms.
