Celebrating the Wish Program

Wednesday, 29 April 2026

Over four days at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, the Wish Program created moments of joy and connection alongside the world-class racing.

The Wish Program brought the magic of the FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2026 to life for children and young people living with, or impacted by, critical illness, alongside their families. At its heart, the program was about creating moments that mattered, moments where families could pause, celebrate together and make memories far beyond the racetrack.

Led by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC), in partnership with Make‑A‑Wish Australia, Starlight Children’s Foundation and My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, the Wish Program was carefully designed to place participants at the centre of the Grand Prix™ experience. Working closely with Formula 1®, F1® teams and key event partners, the program delivered personalised, once-in-a-lifetime experiences tailored to each participant’s individual ‘wish’.

From stepping inside the exclusive F1® Paddock and touring F1® team garages, to walking the pit lane, meeting drivers and waving the chequered flag, these were experiences that many families had only ever imagined from their television screens. For some participants, the excitement extended to the Supercars Grid, trophy presentations and special behind‑the‑scenes moments with artists performing at the Lakeside Festival.

More than access, the Wish Program was about inclusion. Families who have spent long stretches navigating hospitals, treatments and uncertainty were welcomed as VIPs, supported, celebrated and truly part of the event. Every detail was thoughtfully planned to ensure participants felt safe, comfortable, and cared for, while sharing in the thrill and spectacle of a world‑class sporting event.

With dozens of personalised experiences delivered and hundreds of meaningful moments created, the Wish Program demonstrates how major events can be used as powerful platforms for positive social impact. By placing people first and working collaboratively, the Grand Prix™ created joy that extended well beyond race week.

The Wish Program is a reminder that while motorsport is about speed, precision and performance, its greatest power can lie in human connection.
