After making his debut in an official Formula 1® practice session in Mexico, Jack Doohan will get be getting another crack in an F1® car at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend.
The young Aussie contender got to drive 13 laps for Alpine at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez to further build his experience.
With his session being cut short in Mexico, Doohan will be hoping to get more time out on track and further stake his claim for a drive in the future.
Although it looks highly unlikely Doohan will get a full-time F1® drive for 2023, the future is looking bright for the following year if he can challenge for the title in Formula 2®.
The final round of the F2® championship will also take place this weekend, with Brazil’s Felipe Drugovich already securing the title.
Doohan resides in fourth overall in the standings and has the opportunity to be named ‘Rookie of the Year’ if he can outscore Logan Sargeant who is only six points ahead.
Bad luck and some mistakes have left some wins on the table for Doohan, but his improvement has been mighty impressive and has certainly drawn the attention of the paddock.
The 19-year-old Aussie has taken three F2® wins and two pole positions so far in 2022.
