Jack Doohan: Eyes on the prize

Tuesday, 29 June 2021

The Australian has aspirations for F1®.

The Australian Grand Prix podcast In the Fast Lane has released its latest episode, featuring Australian Formula 3® driver Jack Doohan.

Doohan joined In the Fast Lane co-hosts Matt Clayton and Michael Lamonato to talk about growing up as the son of a motorsport legend, his breakthrough F3® win in France earlier this month and his F1® aspirations for the future.

When discussing the Red Bull Juniors program, Doohan shares how he was lucky to stay on after the year he had in 2020.

“The key thing with Red Bull is to perform, if you’re not performing, you’re not there, so I was very lucky to have stayed on after a year like last year” said Doohan.

“For them to go forward they want the best drivers, they don’t want just anyone in their four seats in Formula 1 they want the best of the best, so if you perform that’s all they ask for, so hopefully I can continue to do so and I can keep moving up,” he continued.

With Doohan’s path to Formula 1® getting significant attention following his win in France, he explains that he’s tried to keep his focus firmly on performing in F3®.

“I think I’ve stopped really thinking about that path and the route to get there, in my mind if I perform and I can do the job, if I can win the championship or at least be in the top three, top two and be fighting for wins and podiums each weekend then that path will take care of itself, I worry about what I can control and that’s my results on the track.”

The podcast is available on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts platforms.
